The project ‘Repair of a former Elektra Cinema building for its reuse as a Cultural Multispace (cinema, art gallery, etc.)’ concerns the renovation – repair and reopening of the ‘Elektra’ cinema, which is located in the center of Athens and was constructed in the early 1960s. The ‘Elektra’ cinema was an important cultural infrastructure and a reference centre for citizens and through its reopening the aim is to give a new cultural breath to the heart of the city, both from the operation of the cinema and from the housing of the Municipal Gallery. At the same time, the cultural needs of the cultural associations and the multi-layered activities of the Municipality of Athens will be served.
