The project aims to replace water supply in the southeastern part of the city of Patras, in which the network is aged and very often damaged. The result of the damage is the significant water losses and, on the other hand, the nuisance of the served citizens.With the replacement of the water supply network, leaks will be reduced while at the same time the quality of the water supplied will be improved due to a lower frequency of interventions in the network and therefore the introduction of external materials (grounds etc.). By reducing leaks, the water volume requirement is also reduced, so the volume pumped from the aquifers and the volume processed by the refinery are reduced. In conclusion, the benefit is expected to be large both directly in natural water resources and indirectly due to a reduction in energy demand.
