This project aims to implement a leak control programme in a significant part of the networks of the former municipalities of Rio, Brachnaikos and Messatidas, implementing practices and guidelines of the International Water Association (IWA) to control leakages in water supply networks. Key elements of the project are: — Installation of instruments for continuous monitoring of supply and pressure at characteristic points of the network. Implementation of a Pressure Management Programme, i.e. reducing or eliminating pressure peaks and overpressures while ensuring adequate and efficient supply to consumers. The network will be divided into sections – Zones. The telecontrol and remote control of drilling and tanks will contribute to the reduction of losses, since the overflow in the tanks and the drilling program will be fully controlled. The portable equipment will be complementary to the work of the local stations and is necessary for the active control of leaks, i.e. the early detection of undamaged leaks.
