The projects included in Subproject 1 ensure that its life span is increased, aligned with the guidelines of the new National Waste Management Plan and the modified Regional Waste Management Plan of Western Greece.
Expansion projects offer an additional lifetime of 25 years, with an additional 25 m² remaining for the future expansion. 
Include: The construction of 3 new cells with a total area of 25 sq.m. with double waterproofing projects, double drainage collection system and biogas management network, (b) completion of the inner perimeter road of the landfill, (c) the extension of the rainwater system, (d) upgrading of the system for the collection and treatment of drainage with pond tanks offering an additional volume of drainage 2.500 m³ and gravel refinery, hyperfiltration unit and reverse osmosis unit.
