The Region of Crete will prepare a Regional Plan for the Adjustment to Climate Change (PESPKA) in Crete and the corresponding Strategic Environmental Impact Study (MSPA) of PESPKA, based on its European and national requirements and obligations. PESPRA will recognise and prioritise risk-based adjustment options, assess the necessary measures to be taken, their timetable and overall costs, at strategic level. It will include extensive analysis (existing situation, vulnerability analysis, selection and prioritisation of adaptation measures and actions, time planning, etc.) for 11 areas of interest (Agriculture and Livestock, Forestry, Biodiversity and ecosystems, Fisheries and Aquaculture, Water Resources, Coastal Zones, Tourism, Energy, Infrastructure and Transport, Health and Culture. At the same time, the strategy will involve the local community and the social and productive partners in a dialogue aimed at publicising the problem, raising awareness of society and actively participating in the formulation and implementation of the adaptation strategy.
