The project concerns the restoration of a historic monument – a landmark of the city of Chania of the “Cargos of the Clock”, a monument whose construction dates between 1924 and 1927 and is located in the northeast corner of the Municipal Garden of Chania, at the junction of Democracy and Plumidakis streets. The clock is a tower shape, with a square plan on its base stone trunk, rising slightly upwards to the height where the clock movements are based. The restoration works include the necessary reinforcement, repairs and promotion of the monument in order to restore its original form, protect it from further damage and the protection of passing pedestrians, with the removal of risks due to fall of individual materials. The aim is to strengthen the image of the monument with its redefinition as a pole of attraction to the area of the Municipal Garden of Chania.
