The project concerns the collection of urban waste water from the settlements Georgioupolis, Kavros, Vrysses, Mouri-Kavalos and the coastal tourist zone of Almyros Bay. The waste water will be driven through the pipeline network to the sewage treatment plants and then the treated waste water will be disposed of in the marine area. The chosen treatment method is activated sludge with simultaneous nitrification/denitrification, while the wastewater treatment plant includes: Arrival well, pre-processing plant (sharpening, emulsion-fabrication, central bypass, supply meter), biological treatment plant with 2 independent treatment lines (and forecast for 2 future) with bacteria selection tanks, oxidative trenches and precipitation tanks, chlorine disinfection unit, centrifuge sludge treatment plant and lime addition. The network of closed central drains and collectors passes through an existing road (including wells). To serve the network, there are 10 central pump stations A1, A2, A6, A7, A8, A9, A10, A11, A14, A16. Treated waste water will be disposed of in a charging well and through an underwater disposal pipeline from the charging well at sea. In addition to the above physical object, which is eligible for funding from the EC of Crete 2014-2020, the natural object of private connections of houses, shops and others, which is included, is financed from the resources of the municipality of Apokoronas.
