Energy Upgrading of the Swimming Pool of the Municipality of Neapolis

The project concerns the improvement of the energy characteristics of the swimming pool of the Municipality of Neapolis-Sykes.The swimming pool has a swimming pool of 50 meters long and 20 metres wide and serves, during the summer months, about 570 people daily, including members of local sports clubs. The aim of the proposed interventions under this project is to improve the energy characteristics of the building and its classification in as high a category as possible, as well as to reduce the operational costs. More specifically, it is foreseen:- Mounting solar panels on the roof of the swimming pool’s auxiliary building for annual gas savings of 14.528 km² and reducing CO2 emissions 30.722 kg per year. The contribution of the solar thermal system in meeting the thermal needs of the swimming pool is 10.3 %.- Placement, on the roof of the building, of photovoltaic collectors, aiming to save electricity at the swimming pool facilities. It is estimated that the photovoltaic system can save 11.550 kWh per annum and reduce C02 emissions by 6521 kg respectively.- Replacement of the pool heating system with a cogeneration system of Electricity and Heat High Efficiency (CHHYA) and heat pump.- Replacement of air-conditioning units, with expected reduction of the energy consumption of the air-conditioning units by 35 %.- Replacement of conventional light bulbs with equal power reduction of LED.
