This proposal aims to carry out work on the energy upgrading of the University of Ioannina, in 6 buildings in the wider region of Arta, which are of a useful area of approximately 8,170 sq.m, with the aim of reducing its energy requirements and saving energy. Assistance shall include actions from all 3 eligible categories: Energy Category 1: Energy Upgrade and Energy Saving (EVO) interventions such as replacing all of the building’s frames with new energy frames, energy upgrading of the lighting system by replacing conventional T8 fluorescent lamps with LEDs of the same morphology and lower rated power, the installation of an energy management system (BEMS) Energy Category 2: Demonstration actions for the exploitation of Renewable Energy Sources (RES) and the installation of closed loop geothermal system to meet the needs of cooling – heating and production of hot water for use that will energise the proposed buildings by contributing to the reduction of the pollutant emissions footprint (CO2), and the installation of PV system Energy Category 3: Actions to promote sustainable mobility.The overall interventions of the premises of the University of Ioannina in Arta will result in the energy upgrade of the complex of buildings from Category C to Category A+, as reflected in the attached Energy Efficiency Certificates.
