The Municipality of Patras acknowledging that access for disabled people to the sea is an issue concerning fundamental human rights and is their constitutional right as well as the fact that acceptance, behaviour with dignity, accessibility demonstrate a society with culture, intends to install four (4) integrated systems of mechanisms and supporting infrastructures on an equal number of bathing beaches to safeguard the rights of disabled people and prevented persons and to remove their marginalisation from society as a whole in activities related to sport. It aims in this way to improve the quality of life of our fellow human beings with mobility problems, so that they can easily, safely and equally enjoy a simple activity such as swimming in the sea without any other help. The present holistic approach is also aimed at developing tourism with special requirements in coastal areas and attracting visitors with disabilities as well as other categories of hindered people.
