The project aims to strengthen the research infrastructure of the Laboratory of Automation and Robotics at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), in order to strengthen the champion sectors of the Region of Central Macedonia, Agro-food and Textiles – Clothing, by introducing cutting-edge robotic technologies into the productive small and medium-sized enterprises in these sectors. Two-handed self-propelled robots will now be able to carry out complex processes such as selective harvesting of fruit in agricultural crops and handle textiles in textile and clothing industries, increasing the quality and value of their finished products. The planned infrastructure will help attract and absorb European research and technological development funds and maintain local research potential and employment, reducing the phenomenon of business migration to low labour-cost countries and brain drain.
