The object of the project is the supply of machinery, mainly geotechnical works, which will be kept in military units in the North Aegean Region and can intervene directly, to deal with and/or prevent natural disasters or emergency situations and repair damage. The Armed Forces, apart from their main work to guard the country’s borders and its territorial integrity, assist the country’s civil protection teams with the provision of specialised personnel and resources, in accordance with the provisions of the ‘Xenocrat’ plan. The implementation of this project will have as a direct consequence the maintenance of the high operational readiness of the Armed Forces to prevent and effectively address risks and threats, as well as to ensure the possibility of immediate reaction, always within the framework of the ‘Xenokratis’ plan. In addition, it will contribute to social assistance and support activities of state agencies in response to emergencies. More specifically, the procurement of the special machinery/equipment provided for in the project will result in the increase of the contribution of the Armed Forces in the following areas: 1) The implementation of emergency plans and natural disaster responses, with parallel rescue and damage remediation. 2) The possibility of building and repairing damage to infrastructure and installations. 3) Maintenance, maintenance of open roads. 4) Natural disaster prevention work, such as fire zones and flood protection projects.
