The purpose of the project is the preservation, conservation, protection, promotion and upgrading of the Radi forest, which has been declared a “preserved monument of nature”.The oak forest (Quercus ilex) with the centuries-old trees is the last remaining oak forest in the Aegean, a rare specimen of mature forest of evergreen broadleaves, which is a typical type of Mediterranean ecosystem. In fact, it is the largest of the two oak forests that have been preserved to this day in Greece. It is also a representative sample of the original landscape of the Mediterranean region. It is therefore an important source of information for the scientific community and humanity in general about the climate changes of the past and the future. In order to maintain its character, it must be protected against grazing and the danger of fires. With the installation of signs, on the one hand we inform the visitor about the special protection status of the area and on the other we make it easier for the walker to discover and enjoy the natural beauty of the area.
