TRANSPORT, PROCESSING AND DISPOSAL OF SETTLEMENT WASTE WATER

The aim of the project is to improve the infrastructure of the settlement of Agios Kirikos of Ikaria and the coastal tourist settlement of Therma, which is a pole of attraction due to its thermal springs. To this end, provision shall be made for: The construction of a wastewater treatment facility (EYL) of Agios Kirikos. — The construction of the sewer tanks and the central depressive sewage pipeline in the ESA. — The construction of the gravitational pipeline for the transport of treated waste water from EEL to the port of Agios Kirikos, along the coastal road, as well as the underwater sewage disposal pipeline open from the land zone of the port and the pumping station of the underwater pipeline. Upon completion of the project, the practice of dumping unprocessed wastewater into the port of Agios Kirikos will disappear. The project will also contribute decisively to the country’s full compliance with the requirements of Directive 91/271/EEC on urban waste water treatment in priority C settlements.
