With the study “Improving accessibility of the provincial road Katakolo (Agios Andreas junction) up to the entrance of the Pyrgos (railway line)” which will be prepared by the Technical Projects Division of the Regional Unit of Ilia: Tackling road safety problems by improving the design of the section Katakolo St.John of the Provincial Road 01.The new project is designed to serve simultaneously the increased traffic loads from the Port of Katakolos to E.O.Patras Pyrgos (with the new section “Construction of Lastica road – bypass of Agios Ioannis-Katakolo” whose implementation has been routed) and the connections of the road with the neighboring beach. —Interventions of landscaping and speed reduction in St. John Pyrgos section. The purpose of the intervention is to strengthen the gentle movement on the existing pavements by construction of a walkway with a cub, a bicycle runway, planting, lighting and resting kiosks. In order to reduce road speeds, the main nodes are redesigned and speed reduction regulations are applied.
