The aim of the project is to prepare the necessary studies for the construction of a suburban railway network in the wider area of Western Thessaloniki. The implementation of the first phase of the project will achieve the interconnection of Sindos and Diavata from the west with the Central Passenger Railway Station and the Port of Thessaloniki from the east. With the implementation of the second phase of the project, it will be possible to connect Lagadas with the future metro network and the Evosmos area in the city’s headquarters. Upon completion of the project’s construction, the passenger public will be served by electrified fixed-track means moving at speeds of about 70 km/h.
