The project concerns the energy upgrade of the Municipal Swimming Pool of Kalamata with the exploitation of Renewable Energy Sources (RES). This bathing facility is located in the urban fabric of the city between the centre and the beach of Kalamata, operates throughout the year and was built in the late 1970s. Its importance in the city’s sports profile is great, as it serves many people and water polo teams in the city.In particular, the project is planned to implement the following RES:1) Use of Geothermality. It is proposed to operate a system of subterritorial smooth geothermal energy through open vertical geothermal alternatives, in order to save energy from the oil consumption of the conventional system, which is currently required for the heating of the large swimming pool, the heating of the small pool, the heating of the enclosed spaces (bathrooms etc.) and the production of hot water use (ZHX). 2) Use of heliothermia. It is proposed to use a solar thermal system in order to save energy from the oil consumption that is currently required for the production of ZNX, as well as to assist in heating the small pool.3) Use LED technology projectors in order to save electricity that is currently required for the electric lighting of the large swimming pool. The replacement of a total of 27400 W HQI headlamps, with a total power of 10.80 KW, with 8900 W LED headlamps, with a total power of 7.20 KW.
