The object of the project is the creation of a Multipurpose Centre (CC) of the Region of Central Greece, based in Lamia. The PK will be a key pillar of the network of anti-dependence services in the Region and aspires, along with the other health/social care structures (Hospitals, Health Centres, Mental Health Centres, Social Services Municipalities, Social Clinics etc.) to contribute to the overall coverage of needs of different target groups. The aim of PK is to provide an environment of security and trust, in which a therapeutic relationship can be developed, so that individuals can be supported in order to cope with the problems they face. In particular, the UC will provide primary support and short-term intervention services to all individual groups of addicts according to their needs (drug dependants, occasional users, alcohol users, people with dual diagnosis, etc.) and will refer to specialised structures if necessary (substitution programs, therapeutic communities, mental health units, detoxification units, etc.). The number of individuals who cannot be integrated into existing structures is constantly expanding in recent years, as the condition of the addiction problem has changed considerably, while “new” dependencies have made their appearance dynamically both in the adolescent/young population and in the adult population. Indicatively, there is an increase in heavy alcohol use, especially in the region, and the increase in gambling and gambling among young people, to the extent that it ranks the country first in Europe.
