This project aims at sealing and environmental upgrading of the Santa Maria landfill and the waste disposal sites on the islands of Graciosa and Flores, thereby promoting the protection of the environment and human health, preventing and reducing adverse impacts arising from inadequate waste management, in particular the negative effects of uncontrolled deposition with regard to pollution of surface and groundwater, soil and atmosphere.
