The Modernisation of the Caide-Marco de Canaveses-Régua section translates into the electrification and implementation of signalling, automatic control of rail speed and telecommunications, a total length of 57.8 km, with a presupposition to allow the extension of the electric suburban service, from caide to Marco de Canaveses (and eventually to Régua).
