Development of research infrastructure in the pharmaceutical field of Riga Stradins University

The overall aim of the project is to strengthen the institutional capacity of Riga Stradins University by developing research infrastructure in the field of smart specialisation in Latvia – Biomedicine, medical technologies, biopharmaceuticals and biotechnology. The specific aim of the project is to develop research infrastructure by establishing the Prepared Drug Form Laboratory, thus creating a platform for the development of research in pharmacy for solving problems of economic interest. The project complies with the RSU Development Strategy and the Latvian Smart Specialisation Strategy (hereinafter – RIS3) economic transformation direction and growth priority – “Biomedicine, medical technology, biopharmaceuticals and biotechnology”. According to OECD Classification, the project corresponds to 3.1. base medicine.A laboratory for prepared pharmaceutical forms (hereinafter – GZFL) will be established within the project, which will include development rooms of solid forms and standardisation rooms. The GZFL will be built in a new building on 21 Consul Street. Within the framework of the project it is planned to develop construction project, construction works, construction supervision and author supervision, as well as purchase, installation and training of equipment and equipment (including work places for scientific staff).The project will result in laboratories with support rooms of 833 m², purchased equipment and equipment for GZFL and EU programme Horizon 2020 project “Baltic Biomaterials Excellence Centre” (BBCE) project project “Baltic Biomaterial Excellence Centre” (BBCE), as well as scientific staff work places will be created.The total costs of the project are EUR 4390862.00, from the EU Programme Horizon 2020 project “Baltic Biomaterial Excellence Centre” (BBCE) will be co-financed by EUR 3639538.00. The planned duration of the project is 73 months. The project is planned to start in October 2017.
