The aim of the project “Construction of a bow in the Baltic Sea” (hereinafter referred to as “the project”) is to prevent the risk of coastal erosion to public infrastructure object – Liepaja City sewage treatment (NAI) facilities, maintaining their existence and competitiveness of economic activity, preventing possible environmental and marine pollution and providing the population with quality living environment. The project will be constructed within the framework of the project – coastal protection structure – 225 metres long Būna (mole), including 177 metres of sea, to the north from Liepāja City drain water treatment facilities. The combination of 225 m long booth with shore-side reinforcements will hold back sand from escaping into the sea and according to modelling data, it is predicted that within 60 years, the increase of coastline at NAI will be about 5 m. As a result of the project, the technological constructions of Liepaja city wastewater treatment plants will be protected from damage that could be caused by washing off dunes during large storms. Consequently, the coastline and the Baltic Sea will be protected from possible pollution caused by damage to technical structures of sewage treatment plants. Safe and stable operation of the technological process of Liepaja’s sewage treatment plant will be ensured by purifying urban wastewater in accordance with the requirements of the regulatory enactments of the Republic of Latvia and the EU.In 2016 a construction project “Construction of the protective structure – booth” (designer of the construction project – SIA “HT-KONSALTINGS”) was developed. In June 2019 changes of the construction project were developed, as a result it has been divided into two stages, in this project it is planned to build a 225 metres long booth. 71 month.Project total referencies. — EUR 5 574 597,98:ERDF – EUR 4 674 992,26 Co-final of Liepaja City. — EUR 693 356,06Country co-final. — EUR 206 249,66.
