—Project goal – to develop the recycling of biodegradable waste, to promote reuse of waste in Pierīga waste management region. Implementation of the goal will ensure fulfilment of binding regulatory requirements in the field of waste management – the amount of waste disposed of will decrease, the proportion of waste recycling will increase, as well as will ensure the return of the resources contained in waste to the national economy.-Information about the main project activities – within the framework of the project, additional equipment necessary for the operation of the facilities will be created in the landfill of “Getliņi” biodegradable waste with a recycling capacity of 100000 t/year. The installation will recycle a stream of BNA which is distinguished from the unsorted municipal waste stream in the municipal waste sorting plant at the landfill. According to the planned additions to the regulatory enactments, in 2019, the municipalities should ensure BNA’s separate collection, the BNA processing facilities created by the project will also be reprocessing in the municipalities of the Pierīga region separately collected BNA. Only waste generated in the territory of the Pierr waste management region will be recycled, and inwards for processing from other regions or abroad will not be carried out. The waste to be recovered at the installation does not result from the economic activity of the project applicant.-The planned result of the project – increase of biodegradable waste recycling capacity by 100 000 tonnes/year. —The impact of the State aid is implemented with State aid, the State aid ensures the viability of the project. Project implementation ensures the creation of 10 new jobs. Without Cohesion Fund support investments would not be made and the project would not be implemented.- Total project costs – EUR 48291342,00, total eligible costs EUR 34768710,90, incl. Cohesion Fund support EUR 29553404,26. Costs infrastructure is necessary for the provision of public service for waste disposal – according to the laws and regulations governing waste disposal, only waste prepared for disposal is allowed to be disposed of, as well as the amount of biodegradable waste disposed of must be reduced. Accordingly, in order to comply with the requirements of regulatory enactments and to ensure the provision of public service, provision of biodegradable waste is necessary. According to Waste Management Law, costs related to reduction of the amount of biodegradable waste, including biodegradable waste recovery, are included in the Waste Disposal Tariff.- Duration of the project – 39 months from the effective date of the agreement/agreement on project implementation.
