The aim of the project is to continue to preserve and develop the cultural monument of Daugavpils fortress, offering new tourism services, ensuring the sustainability of investments and impact on the development of the socio-economic potential of Daugavpils fortress territory and integration into the local economic structure. The specific objectives of the project are:1) Development of Daugavpils Fortress Engineering arsenal Western block space exhibition, presentation of new services and organisation of events; 2) Create a path for pedestrians and cyclists – a promenade along the bank of Daugava, thus connecting the city with Daugavpils fortress and promoting accessibility of the national cultural monument and river. The main challenge facing the project is: Necessity to continue developing new attractive tourism products in Daugavpils fortress territory. Main target groups of the project: 1) Daugavpils Municipality; 2) Local and international tourists, 3) Providers of services related to the unified cultural and natural heritage object, 4) local residents.Project activities: Completion of restoration of the engineering arsenal building of Daugavpils Fortress Fortress for the Technical Museum, construction of Daugavpils Fortress promenade on the right bank of the river Daugava, construction supervision, author supervision. Project results: Completed restoration of the interior of Daugavpils Fortress Engineering arsenal building of Western block, construction of Daugavpils fortress promenade, supervision of construction works and author supervision. Two natural and cultural heritage sites have been supported; Two new services are displayed there; Prerequisites for increasing the number of visits of supported nature and culture heritage sites and tourist attractions to 6000 visits per year (compared to the initial value in 2015-0 visits).The total cost of the project is EUR 4757174.31. The amount of support from the European Regional Development Fund is EUR 3021130,00.The duration of the project is 27 months from the signing of the agreements.
