The aim of the project “Modernisation of Study Programmes of the Transport and Communications Institute STEM” is to modernise 11 STEM curricula by increasing the number of students in STEM fields, improving the provision of the university with modern equipment, equipment and technologies in the priority education thematic groups such as information technology and engineering. In the long term, the project will promote the transformation of the Latvian economy towards higher added value, promoting growth in sectors with high potential for future growth and sectors with significant horizontal impact. The direct target group of the project is the current and future students of STEM programmes, as well as lecturers. ¶The project’s activities and results are as follows:¶-modernised 3 study audiences (550 places for students), funds are being invested in their renovation and improvement; Audiences are adapted for persons with fewer capabilities; 2 new laboratories have been established and 1 existing training laboratories have been upgraded to 10 STEM programmes; ¶there have been upgraded equipment and equipment for 3 field of aviation STEM programs; ¶-improved IT infrastructure for 11 STEM programs by modernising hardware (including in Daugavpils branch), technical support and programme provision; ¶The library’s stocks with electronic literature and paper publications for 11 STEM programmes have been upgraded.The total cost of the project is EUR 1246177.44, of which the support from the European Regional Development Fund is EUR 1059250.82.The project is planned to be implemented within 29 months, from 1 March 2020 to 1 March 2020.
