The project provides for improvement of academic staff competence of Daugavpils University, promoting restoration and international competitiveness. The aim of the project was to strengthen the capacity of the academic staff of Daugavpils University by involving foreign academic staff, doctoral students and scientific candidates and implementing the improvement of the competence of the academic staff of the University of Daugavpils. Main activities of the project: 1. Involvement of doctoral students or scientific candidates in academic work at Daugavpils University in the fields of study “Living nature sciences”, “Language and culture studies, native language and language programmes”, “Health care” and “Economics”, providing employment conditions for elected academic staff. 2. Employment of foreign academic staff as teaching staff at Daugavpils University in the fields of study “Living nature sciences”, “Language and culture studies, native language and language programmes”, “Health care” and “Economics”. 3. Study directions “Living nature sciences”, “Language and culture studies, native language studies and language programmes”, “Health care” and “Economics” academic staff development activities. 4. Project management and project implementation. 5. Information and publicity measures. As a result of the project in the fields of study “Living nature sciences”, “Language and culture studies, native language studies and language programmes”, “Healthcare” and “Economics”: 1. The academic work will involve 16 doctoral students or candidates for a degree of at least 12 months, with employment under the conditions of elected academic staff. 2 20 representatives of foreign academic staff as teachers will be attracted. 3. Three measures to improve the competence of elected academic staff will be implemented: 3.1. A traineeship with the merchant will be carried out in the amount of at least 100 hours in accordance with the development plan of elected academic staff (45 persons). 3.2. Professional English language training (60 persons). 3.3. Specialised training, which develops leadership of academic staff, cooperation competence with industry (60 persons). The total eligible funding available for the project is EUR 1647615.30, including European Social Fund funding – EUR 1400473.01, co-financing from the state budget – EUR 247142.29.Project implementation time – 01.10.2018. 30.06.2022 (45 months)
