Health promotion and disease prevention in Ķekava Municipality

The aim of the project is to promote health of inhabitants of Ķekava region and implement disease prevention measures, especially for those at risk of poverty and social exclusion. The main blocks of activities envisaged in the project are related to the organisation of health promotion measures and the organisation of primary health prevention events for all inhabitants of Ķekava region. Individual project activities will also be planned for specially supported target groups – children, seniors, residents of areas with low population density, etc.The focus of the planned activities is on the problems and peculiarities specific to the Pierīga region, which are identified in the health profile of Riga and Pierīga region developed by the SPKC, namely: Higher birth rate and higher number of children as average in Latvia, higher population with poorer health habits, lower physical activity, unhealthy dietary habits. Actions are also planned in four priority thematic areas: Cardiovascular health, oncology, children’s health and mental health.The duration of the project is 70 months, the total budget is EUR 400316. The project was started on August 10, 2017 and it is planned to be implemented by June 30, 2023.
