“The phase of the project Rehabilitation and extension of water supply and sewerage systems in the county. Teleorman”

The aim of the project – Phase II – is to comply with the commitments of the European directives in the water and waste water sector, in order to improve the quality of the environment and human life. The project consists of measures for the construction of chlorination stations, construction of tanks, water distribution networks, water treatment and pumping stations, extension of sewerage networks, wastewater pumping stations, treatment plants. Water supply CO18 Water distribution: The additional population that will benefit from better water supply. Upon completion of phase 2 (2018) of the project, the number of people who will benefit from the drinking water supply through the drinking water distribution network as a result of the increase in the production/transport capacity of drinking water will be 112,446 inhabitants, i.e. 1.40 % of the total inhabitants requiring water supply in Romania (8.018.086 inhabitants – data calculated on the basis of information provided by INS/ANAR) and 0, 60 % of the total inhabitants in Romania (20.121,641 inhabitants – census data provided by the INS By carrying out the water supply works provided in phase 2, the quality of the drinking water will be improved, given the rehabilitation of the treatment plant in the Turnu Magurele agglomeration (new surface capture, water chlorination, ozonisation through the ozone station and the treatment with active charcoal of water). Also by expanding and rehabilitating water distribution networks in Alexandria and Videle agglomerations will decrease losses by values of between 5-10 %. As regards water quality, it should be noted that according to the data provided by the Ministry of Health in accordance with Directive 98/83/EC on water quality, in 2016 there are exceedances of water quality parameters in the project area at the level of Alexandria, Videle. By investing in water systems in these localities, namely treatment stations, distribution network, pipelines and protection/rehabilitation of water sources, it is envisaged to improve the current situation. In this respect, after the completion of the investments in the systems covered by the project, it is expected that all the rules laid down in Directive 98/83/EC on water quality will be fulfilled, thus ensuring the necessary conditions for the supply of drinking water to suitable physical and chemical paramenters. Water Used: CO19 Wastewater treatment: At the end of Phase 2 (2018) of the project, the number of persons/equivalent population whose waste water is transported to treatment plants through the waste water transport network due to the increase in the level of waste water treatment/transport capacity built by the project and previously not connected or served by improperly treated waste water systems will be 130,000 equivalent inhabitants, i.e. a total of approximately 0.63 % of the total population equivalent to ni
