The general objective of the project “Project phase extension and modernisation of water and wastewater infrastructure for the Constanta-Ilfov region” is to continue the works related to Phase 1 of SOP Environment 2007-2013 in order to achieve the objectives assumed under Financing Contract No. 2723/AK/26.05.2014. The physical indicators of the project aim at expanding and rehabilitating the drinking water and sewerage infrastructure in order to achieve the targets assumed by the Accession Treaty. The project is addressed to Corbeanca commune in the county. Ilfov. The project aims at increasing the level of collection and treatment of urban waste water, as well as ensuring the supply of drinking water to the population. At the completion of the project (2018) Phase 1 and Phase 2, the number of people who will benefit from the drinking water supply through the drinking water distribution network as a result of the increase in the production/transport capacity of drinking water will be 33544 inhabitants, for Corbeanca agglomerations (1072 inhabitants) and Buftea (23072 inhabitants), i.e. 0.42.% of the total inhabitants requiring water supply in Romania (8.018.086 inhabitants – data calculated on the basis of the information provided by INS/ANAR) and 0.17 % of the total inhabitants in Romania (20.121.641 inhabitants – census data provided by INS/ANAR). The degree of service of the population by the public drinking water supply system in the project coverage area will increase for Corbeanca agglomeration from 1 % – value before the project (phase 1) – to 100 % after the completion of Stage 2, and for Buftea agglomeration. from 77 % – value before the project (phase 1) – to 100 % after the project. At the same time, for the CO 18 indicator, the additional population that will benefit from a better water supply after the completion of the entire project will be 10,369 people for the Corbeanca agglomeration. Taking into account the phase of the works carried out in the geographical area of the Corbeanca agglomeration, after the completion of Stage 1 a compliance rate of 65 % was reached, and after the completion of Stage 2 a 100 % compliance rate will be reached. Water Uzata – At the end of the project (Phase 1 and Phase 2) the number of persons/equivalent population whose waste water is transported to treatment plants through the waste water transport network due to the increase in the level of waste water treatment/transport capacity built by the project and who were previously not connected or served by improperly treated waste water systems will be 33544 equivalent inhabitants, i.e. a total of approximately 0.16.% relative to the total equivalent inhabitants in Romania (20798547 l.e. at 2014 level – data provided by ANAR) and a total of approximately 0.21 %.
