The project is part of the TEN-T Priority Axis No 22: Athens-Sofia-Budapest-Vienna-Prague-Nuremberg/Dresden which connects the eastern EU Member States through a major railway axis with western European countries. The present Coșlariu – Simeria railway line section is located in Central-West of Romania, in the counties of Alba and Hunedoara. The existing railway line section to be rehabilitated starts from Coșlariu up to Simeria, having a total length of 75,872 km (lot 1-42,757 km, lot 2-33,115 km). The existing Coșlariu – Simeria double track and electrified railway has a present average speed of about 80 km/h. The rehabilitation project of the Coșlariu – Simeria railway section aims at making the railway infrastructure inter-Operable along the TEN-T priority axis 22; also at improving the quality of rail service by modernising the railway infrastructure and raising the maximum operational speed to 160 km/h for passengers trains and 120 km/h for freight trains. In addition, to ensure effective inter-operability, the Coșlariu – Simeria rehabilitation project includes ERTMS/ETCS level 2 systems. The rehabild railway infrastructure will have a positive impact in terms of the economic development of the region, since it considerably improves the accessibility of the region and the connection of the local enterprises and entrepreneurs that possess capital and the link with the other Romanian regions. For the project "Rehabilitation of the railway line Brasov – Simeria, component of Corridor IV Pan European, for the circulation of trains with a maximum speed of 160 km/h – Section: Simeria – Coșlariu – phase II, indicator "total length of the railways" reconstructed or Modernised", according to GD no: 784/2011 is 74,431 km, a geographically established indicator. The Government decision was initiated on the basis of the Feasibility Study. Following the completion of the activity of design and approval of the documentation within the CFR CTE (lot 1-105/29.06.2011, lot 2-106/25.07.2011, ERTMS – 166/10.11.2011), the lots were defined as follows: Lot 1 Simeria – Vintu de Jos in length of 42.37 km according to the Opinion no: 105/29.06.2011, Lot 2 Coslariu – Vintu de Jos in a length of 33.02 km in accordance with the Opinion no: 106/25.07.2011, section totaling 75.39 km. Following the adaptation of the project to the situation on the ground, the substantial completion of the works, an evaluation of the indicator “Km of interoperable railway rehabilitated and upgraded” was requested. By the address CS1/Alba/19/43298/19.07.2019 The consultant confirms that the value of the indicator is 75.28 km as follows: Lot 1 Simeria – Vintu de Jos, 42.26 km long, Lot 2 Coslariu – Vintu de Jos in length of 33.02 km. With the completion of the works, the preparation of the ASBuilt documentation and the reception of the finished works, the indicator “total length of reconstructed or Modernised railways” will be updated to the final wave
