The general objective of the project is to encourage entrepreneurship and self-employment in the 7 less developed regions of Romania (South-East, South-Muntenia, South-West Oltenia, West, North-West, Center and North-East), by supporting the establishment of new enterprises with a non-agricultural profile in the urban environment, by individuals over 18 years old (somers, inactive persons, persons who have a job, including persons carrying out an independent activity) who have their residence or residence in rural or urban areas in these regions and provide proof of their domicile or residence abroad for a period of at least 12 months prior to registration in the target group. By implementing the project, it will ensure the improvement of the entrepreneurial skills of the target group, so that it can transform its business ideas into reality, entrepreneurship thus becoming a career option for each participant. In the long term, the project will generate positive effect through sustainable business development in the 7 implementation regions, which will provide employment opportunities among the population, reduce unemployment, increase budget receipts and raise living standards. Moreover, these businesses will be an example of good practice for other Romanians in Diaspora, who will be incentivised to return home and invest in a new business, based on the know-how acquired in the host countries. The long-term impact can also be pursued by creating and consolidating a collaborative platform of enterprises (mainly the SMEs set up in the project, which will be supported in this way, including after the completion of the project), employers, chambers of commerce, business support centers, incubators and hubs existing at national and international level, entities that will have the mission to make a combined effort in supporting the development of the platform’s partners, the Romanian business environment and in creating public-private partnerships. In addition, within the project, through the SMART Method of Public Policy, Romanian and Diaspora citizens will contribute to the formulation of 20 public policy proposals to support the entrepreneurial environment in Romania, which will be sent to the responsible authorities, which will have a significant impact. Also, with the help of participatory democracy actions such as “public café”, the members of the communities of the 7 regions to which the project is addressed will learn how to propose solutions to a series of public interest issues at local, national or European level, including problems of the entrepreneurial environment, through platforms aimed at such actions.
