EDUCATION WITHOUT BORDERS FOR CHILDREN IN SIMIAN COMMUNE

The general objective of the project is to stimulate participation in education for 270 preschoolers and pupils with parents working abroad through integrated measures to prevent, reduce school dropout and promote equal access to education for groups at risk of early school leaving. The general objective of the project is in accordance with the provisions, priorities and measures included in the National Strategy on the Social Inclusion of Romanian citizens belonging to Rome Minority and the National Strategy on Early Leave Reduction of the School, by implementing a program of extracurricular, support, recreational and counselling educational activities, social counseling and parental education for parents/guardians of children and pupils included in the target group (all children being from rural areas), to respond to their complex social, emotional and educational needs and thus increasing access to quality education, respectively contributing to the prevention of early school drop-out/leaving. Within the project, they will benefit from the support services and measures: 35 children/students belonging to the Roma minority (approximately. 13 % of the total target group children/students) and 270 children/students coming from rural areas. The project activities are in accordance with the action directions of the Strategy for reducing early school leaving, contributing to the implementation of a plan to ensure adequate access to quality education and ensuring the completion of compulsory education by all children, especially for children from groups at risk. The measures provide for a mixed financial and technical support for families in order to remove obstacles to a higher access to quality education. According to the National Strategy on Early Leave Reduction of School, the distribution of school dropout rates suggests that the first and last year of each school cycle are the most problematic. Within the project, for students identified at risk, personalised support will be provided to overcome any learning problem: through individual counseling and personal development programs, additional training hours for 8th grade students, as well as vocational counseling, for that category with high risk of abandonment (school students 8th and high school students aged 14-16 years). Through the project, 270 children and students, as well as 200 of their parents and/or guardians, coming from Simian commune or Hinova commune, will benefit from: psycho-social services, financial support measures, a package of integrated services consisting of a program to improve educational retention for 24 preschoolers (educational and recreational activities in extracurricular and summer programs), as well as active
