Education and support for vulnerable children

GENERAL OBJECTIVE OF THE PROJECT: Reducing the number of children entering residential institutions, by developing community services aimed at preventing the separation of children from parents, in Hunedoara and Caras-Severin counties. Through the proposed objectives and activities, as well as the expected results, the project produces a significant and lasting change in the quality of life of children at risk of family separation from the 2 counties targeted (Hunedoara and Caras-Severin) related to the West region. The project will identify and monitor 230 children at risk of family separation, 115 from Hunedoara county and 115 from Caras-Severin county. The actual identification and monitoring activities will also be supported by the creation of 2 inter-institutional networks, one at the level of each county, consisting of representatives of public authorities and institutions, as well as NGOs and other private actors (e.g. independent specialists) with roles in child protection, support and education. The 230 children will benefit from complex social services both through day centers (4 day centers, two in each county, developed through the project), as well as through services provided at community level by teams of specialists. At the same time, accompanying children at risk of separation will also be done by providing material aids that contribute to reducing the degree of social and economic vulnerability, as well as by organising and running 4 socialisation camps (2/county) of socialisation, skills development and self-esteem. The proposed services will have a high level of quality and utility, primarily by addressing the specific needs of each child and his family of origin. The situation of the potential beneficiaries of the services will be identified and analysed in detail based on the knowledge and experience of the specialists involved, using methodologies and working tools adapted to the project and the target group concerned, as well as through the rigorous collection of the necessary information from the community, both by using innovative methods such as the telephone helpline made available to the project, as well as by consulting relevant local organisations. In this regard, a collaboration agreement with DAS Petrosani and DAS Resita was concluded and a statement of support was obtained from the schools in Petrosani and Resita who will host the day care centers. In addition, as mentioned above, S provides the existing helpline telephone line at the level of the organisation and already known to the public for identifying and monitoring cases of children at risk of separation in the region, as well as for providing social services through it, assigning through the project dedicated specialists (legal adviser, psychologist).
