“#FAPTE: Establishment of preschool groups at Gradinaţa No. 54, Garden No. 34 and Gradinita No. 245

The main objective of the project is to increase the participation in pre-school education with a focus on children belonging to the Roma minority and those from marginalised and disadvantaged backgrounds, by (1) setting up pre-school education sections in three kindergartens in Sector 5, Bucharest, thus increasing the capacity for inclusion in preschool and school education in the sector with 75 places; (2) the training of 18 persons belonging to ECEC teaching staff, thus increasing the quality of pre-preschool services and contributing in the long term to increasing quality in education; (3) the provision of new services and learning materials for 75 children from disadvantaged backgrounds, especially from the Roma community in sector 5 and (4) supporting and advising parents/legal guardians/persons taking care of children enrolled in the target group, thus ensuring the registration of the unemployed at AJOFM and an increase in their information about child psychology and education and raising their awareness of key elements in the development of the child. Thus, this project will contribute directly to specific objective 6.2 by proposing concrete solutions for increasing participation in pre-school and pre-school education and targeting disadvantaged children and children from the Roma community, both at risk of early school leaving. The project contributes to the achievement of the specific objective of the programme (6.2) by providing access to pre-school education services for 75 children aged 0-2, thus increasing participation in pre-school and pre-school education through the following interventions with long-term impact: • The establishment of three pre-school education sections in three functional kindergartens in the sector, thus increasing the supply of pre-school education in the sector, as well as facilitating a smoother transition of children from pre-school to preschool. In the long term, by increasing the capacity of kindergartens, the project will contribute to ensuring quality and equitable education for the local community, potentially contributing to reducing the risk of early school leaving and increasing the enrolment rate in pre-school and pre-school education. • Upskilling of 18 teachers and increasing their skills in order to be able to provide both quality education and care to children who will benefit from pre-school education services in the new kindergarten section. In the long term, through the professionalisation of the staff, the project’s contribution is to increase the quality of education, as the teachers can add long-term value in the kindergarten concerned, but also in others, if necessary. • Ensuring that children from the Roma community and from disadvantaged backgrounds have access to new services and learning materials dedicated to children between 0 and 2 years old.
