The general objective of the project is to contribute to increasing access to affordable, sustainable and high quality services, including healthcare and social services of general interest, by increasing by at least 50,000 people in the South-East development region the number of people benefiting from health programs and services oriented towards prevention, early detection (screening), diagnosis and early treatment for colorectal cancer pathology. The way in which the project will generate a positive long-term effect is achieved through the project activities, which describe an integrated approach for informing, recruiting and providing access to targeted services for the population, provided that all the resources needed to ensure that the services in question are of high quality and to improve the current situation that shows that the burden of cancer diseases in general, as reflected by standardised mortality rates, is higher in Romania (181/100.000) than the EU average (169/100.000), being constantly increasing. The integrated approach proposed by the project solves, on the one hand, the problem of identifying people at risk and referring them to specialised medical investigations and treatment, and on the other hand realises the prevention of the pathology concerned, through information and awareness at the level of the population, reducing the risk of pathology only in advanced stages, a risk that is now higher in Romania compared to the rest of the EU and which generates problems related to the quality of the health and life of the population and, including, a series of public and social costs.
