“Provision of health services from prevention, early detection, diagnosis and early treatment of colorectal precancerous lesions – ROCCAS II – Sud-Muntenia”

General objective: Promoting social inclusion, combating poverty and any form of discrimination, by increasing access to affordable, sustainable and high quality services, including healthcare and social services of general interest, by organising health programs and services oriented towards prevention, early detection (screening) diagnosis and early treatment of colorectal cancer for 50,001 people from the South-Muntenia region, of which at least 59 % belong to vulnerable groups. Long-term impact 1. The impact of the project/screening on the target group Given that the incidence of colo-rectal cancer is increased, ranking 3 rd worldwide, with 1.8 million new cases (representing 10.2 % of all new cancers), and in terms of mortality, 2nd place with 881000 deaths annually (9.2 % of all cancer deaths), according to GLOBOCAN statistics, CCR is a major public health problem, which can benefit from effective screening methods, taking into account current medical progress. The present programme aims to identify the target group (according to the criteria defined in the methodology), consisting of persons aged 50-74, domiciled or residing in the South-Muntenia Region, and to invite them to participate in the screening. The target group is considered a group of seemingly healthy, asymptomatic, but at risk individuals to develop colo-rectal cancer. Persons detected positive for screening will benefit from a prevention program, which involves the detection and treatment of early lesions, the inclusion in a follow-up program, the final impact being the decrease of the incidence of CCR by timely detection of the precursor lesions and the decrease of mortality through CCR, by early detection of early forms, which can benefit from curative treatment. 2. The benefits of the target group as a result of the implementation of the project The main problems identified that delay or prevent the screening of co-rectal cancer by the healthy population are represented by: — lack of information, – fear of possible unpleasant news, – neglect of preventive recommendations, – misunderstanding of tests or fear of invasiveness of tests – low socio-economic status, – residence in rural areas – due to the lack of qualified medical personnel nearby. The implementation of the project aims to facilitate all these aspects, by actively identifying the target group and mobilising it within the project actions. Through its implementation, we want the target group to benefit from: — facilitating access to health services – increased quality of health services – availability of free investigations – correct information and medical education – recommendations on a healthy lifestyle – empowerment and involvement in prevention measures – includes
