Increasing passenger safety and safety at “Delta Danube” Tulcea Airport – safety and increased passenger safety at “Delta Danube” Tulcea Airport

The general objective of the project is to increase the sustainable use of the “Delta Danube” Airport by increasing the safety of passengers and baggage in accordance with the requirements of Commission Regulation (EU) No 1399/09 laying down technical requirements and administrative procedures related to aerodromes pursuant to Regulation (EC) No 216/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council and Annex to ED Decision 2016/027/R Certification Specifications and Guidance Material for Aerodromes Design CS-ADR-DSN Issue 4 of 8 December 2017 and to comply with the provisions of environmental protection policies, a key aspect of airport infrastructure development. The project “Enhancing passenger safety and security at Danube Delta” Tulcea Airport – Safety and increased passenger safety at “Delta Danube Delta” Tulcea Airport has a special relevance for the socio-economic development of the ITI area by contributing to the objectives of Pillar III – Improving connectivity related to the Integrated Sustainable Development Strategy of the Danube Delta. Also, taking into account the importance of an airport in socio-economic development, the positive effects can extend to the whole South-East Development Region. The investments within the project correspond to the following eligible actions within OS 2.3: New investment projects in airport infrastructure with the objective of construction/extension/upgrading of terminals, namely rehabilitation-modernisation/extension of movement areas (tracks, taxiways, platforms, etc.), accompanied by environmental protection measures. By making these types of investments “Delta Danube” Tulcea Airport will comply with the latest requirements of regulations in the aviation sector, thus providing superior safety conditions in airport activities. Thus, the project "Enhancing passenger safety and security on "Delta Danube Airport" Tulcea – safety and increased safety of passengers at "Delta Danube" Tulcea Airport contributes to the following programme indicator for Specific Objective 2.3 Call for projects for the development of airport infrastructure – new investment projects: • 2S17 Modernised Airports On “Delta Danube” Airport Tulcea, the existing traffic so far has been performed largely, only general aviation flights, flights performed with small capacity planes or charter flights with small aircraft. In the next period it is considered that the traffic generated by these races will continue to exist and grow due to the economic development and the development of tourism in the area (in terms of number of movements and implicitly as number of passengers).
