The general objective of this project is to extend the road transport infrastructure of national interest in order to ensure the connection to the TEN-T network of areas which are deficient in terms of transport opportunities in order to ensure accessibility to work opportunities. The specific operational objective is to improve the speed of travel in Radauti, by removing transit traffic from the urban area, thus also improving connectivity at regional level that facilitates the economic integration of Romania into the EU. The main objectives of the project “Center of Radauti Municipality” relate to the construction of 16.579 km of road, 7 bridges, 2 passages and 7 intersections. This investment objective contributes to the improvement of the road infrastructure in the area by reducing the infrastructure deficit in the Radauti municipality. The infrastructure deficit was defined as one of the problems of the road sector, according to the MPGT analysis. The realisation of the project will lead to the achievement of the result indicator 2S12 – Accessibility index (effective density): “Relative accessibility of major urban centres, in terms of access to employment opportunities, taking into account travel time and related costs”, under Priority Axis 2: “Developing a multimodal, quality, sustainable and efficient transport system – LIOP”, Specific Objective 2.2 (SO) – “Increasing the accessibility of areas with low connectivity to the road infrastructure of the TEN-T”, by increasing the accessibility of the population in Radauti and surroundings to employment opportunities by reducing the transport time to and from the workplace, as well as the related transport costs. The Large Infrastructure Operational Programme 2014-2020 aims to develop national road infrastructure and missing links on the TEN-T network, in accordance with Regulation 1315/2013. The project “Radauti Belt” is proposed for funding under Priority Axis 2 – Improving mobility through the development of the TEN-T network and transport by metro, Investment Priority 7b – Boosting regional mobility by connecting secondary and tertiary nodes to TEN-T infrastructure, including multimodal nodes, Specific Objective 2.2 (OS) – Increasing accessibility of areas with low connectivity to the road infrastructure of TEN-T. Through OS 2.2 of Priority Axis No. 2 of LIOP is aimed, among others, at developing new projects for upgrading/developing the road network, including the construction of the road network: motorways/express roads/national roads/trans-Regio and Euro Trans) providing an adequate connection to the TEN-T network or increasing regional accessibility.
