High-performance medical equipment to stop COVID 19 in Giurgiu County – CO-STOP

The general objective of the project is to strengthen the capacity to manage cases of infection with the SARS-CoV-2 virus of Giurgiu County Emergency Hospital by equipping medical equipment, protective equipment and sanitary supplies, leading to a timely and effective response in the context of the COVID-19 crisis. The project "Performance medical equipment to stop COVID 19 in Giurgiu County – CO-STOP" contributes to the result indicator of the programme "2S130- Public Entities equipped/supported for managing the health crisis caused by SARS-CoV-2: 1 entity", as well as additional output indicators, as the implementation of the activities foreseen therein will lead to the increase and development of adequate capacity for care and treatment of COVID-19 infection cases, at Giurgiu County Emergency Hospital by providing efficient medical equipment, specific to the treatment and monitoring of COVID-19 patients, as well as to ensure a safe professional environment for healthcare professionals by using specific protective equipment that reduces the risk of infection and indirectly spread of the virus between doctors, nurses, auxiliary staff and patients. The provision of protective equipment and medical equipment that will be used directly both to prevent infection and to treat COVID-19 infection will improve the care and treatment capacity of patients. Based on the analysis of specialists within this medical unit involved in managing, treating, combating SARS-CoV-2 virus infections, it has emerged the necessity, opportunity and urgency of solving deficiencies in equipping with specific medical equipment for the detection/treatment of patients suspected/infected with SARS-CoV-2 virus, as well as for the prevention of infection of medical personnel and patients, with protective equipment and sanitary supplies. At the time of the establishment of the emergency state, the existing facilities at Giurgiu County Emergency Hospital did not ensure the provision of medical services specific to this situation, because part of the existing medical equipment is physically and morally worn, but also insufficiently equipped with medical equipment. Because of this, there was a risk that the public health services needed to treat SARS-CoV-2 virus infections could not be fully provided. At the same time, the occurrence of cases of infections with SARS-CoV-2 virus requires a large flow of medicines and sanitary materials, as well as protective equipment necessary to prevent transmission of the virus. In order to manage these risks, an extensive process was started to create the premises of an effective/performance medical act by increasing the reaction in the treatment/management and combating the effects/cases diagnosed positively COVID 19.
