NUTRITIONAL OPTIMISATION OF GRAPE AND BERRIES-BASED FOOD PRODUCTS, THROUGH RESVERATROL ENRICHMENT, IN ORDER TO INCREASE THE INTAKE OF ANTIOXIDANTS IN THE DIET

The general objective of the project is to obtain a nutritionally enriched product, on the substrate consisting of indigenous resources of berries (mure, blueberries, currants, cranberries) and grapes by increasing their content in natural resveratrol, important active ingredient with antioxidant properties. Simultaneously, the project aims to develop and internally approve the methodology of nutritional optimisation in resveratrol of the matrices used – berries and grapes. The aim of the project is to increase the national economic competitiveness in the field of Bioeconomy, by capitalising on the indigenous resources, characteristic of the national production in the food supplement sector, accessible, nutritionally improved, by increasing the content of antioxidant active ingredients. An important contribution to the achievement of the objective of the project The component that underpins the achievement of the project’s objective, namely “Increasing the transfer of knowledge, technology and personnel with RDI competences between the public and private environments”, is the technological transfer, foreseen to be achieved, in this case, through the public-private partnership between the University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine Cluj-Napoca, a higher education institution with research and development activity and the private sector represented by Parapharm SRL. In this context, we mention that the project falls within the objectives assumed by Romania in the field of Research, Development, Innovation, in line with the Europe 2020 strategy, for smart, sustainable growth in favour of inclusion. Also, being developed under a priority axis of the Competitiveness Operational Plan 2015-2020, the way the project has the potential to contribute to increasing economic competitiveness is the contribution to promoting investment in research, development, innovation, the development of links and synergies between businesses and higher education.
