The general objective of the project is to increase the level of access to the online learning process for 600 students from Polytechnic University Timisoara in order to carry out under preventive conditions the teaching activities for the 2020/2021 school year in the context of the risk of infection with coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 in the state higher education institutions in the West Region (Timis and Hunedoara counties). The general objective of the project was set in line with the specific objective of the measure under Priority Axis 2 – Information and Communications Technology (ICT) for a competitive digital economy Investment Priority 2c. — Strengthening ICT applications for e-government, e-learning, e-inclusion, e-culture, e-health; Specific Objective OS 2.4 – Increasing the use of the Internet Action 2.3.3 – Improving digital content and systemic ICT infrastructure in the field of e-education, e-Inclusion, e-health and e-culture – E-EDUCATION SECTION. Carrying out teaching activities in the academic year 2020/2021 requires a series of support measures necessary for the smooth conduct of the educational process, both for students and teachers, in the context of the pandemic crisis created by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, in order to avoid a rapid increase in the coronavirus infection, but also to create the conditions for carrying out teaching activities. Through this project, the applicant contributes to the specific objective of the programme – Specific Objective OS 2.4 – Increasing the use of the Internet, Action 2.3.3 – Improvement of digital content and systemic ICT infrastructure in the field of e-education, e-inclusion, e-health and e-culture – E-EDUCATION SECTION. In this respect, the project envisages equipping students who benefit from social scholarships with mobile equipment in the field of information technology, such as laptops, so that training hours during teaching activities can take place online, in order to avoid direct contact of students with teachers and other students, as well as to prevent the risk of infection with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, which would jeopardise the normal conduct of all the teaching activities necessary for the educational process. This action concerns a strategic interest, namely to ensure that teaching activities are carried out in good conditions in the school year 2020-2021, and to ensure that the public education service is carried out in good conditions. Bearing this in mind, one of the measures adopted by the Applicant is the acquisition of 600 laptops for students who benefit from social scholarships and do not have access to a specific and performed device so that access to education (participation in the teaching activities offered by the Applicant) is not altered.
