Development and consolidation of the National Node METROFOOD-RI (MetroFOOD-RO acronym)

The general objective of the project is to develop and strengthen the capacity for R & D and innovation and to provide scientific services of METROFOOD-RO, as an integral part of the pan-European infrastructure METROFOOD-RI by developing the tools necessary to increase the quality testing performance of agri-food products, so that Romania meets the European requirements in the field of food security and safety. The project contributes to the objectives of the programme by strengthening the research capabilities and capabilities of the research organisations forming METROFOOD-RO within METROFOOD-RI, an active project in the ESFRI European Roadmap. These actions include both the most efficient use of the research infrastructure and the increase in the competence of the human resources that will use this infrastructure. The set of activities in this project are designed to reflect, at national level, the concept, structure and organisation of the European METROFOOD-RI infrastructure, so that the integration of METROFOOD-RO is carried out in a simple, efficient and productive way. METROFOOD-RO will involve relevant research organisations in Romania that have protocol of adherence to METROFOOD-RO, are recognised at METROFOOD-RI level and will work in the future in this pan-European structure. In this respect, the letter received from the coordinator of the European infrastructure METROFOOD-RI is attached. The project also responds to the objectives of the programme by contributing significantly to increasing the potential of Romanian research organisations to participate in the future Horizon-Europe (HEU). The services METROFOOD-RO intends to provide and develop through this project are services that increase the performance of agri-food testing laboratories and include: 1 production of reference materials (MR); 2 Provision of Competence Schemes (CS); 3 advanced training for food chain specialists; 4 R & D-innovation services. The first 2 types of services are almost non-existent at national level and testing laboratories require R & D organisations from other EU Member States. On the other hand, these services represent some of the most important services in the list of services predicted by METROFOOD-RI and will therefore be an important place among the project activities (A1.2). For the third type we consider the vocational training centers in IBA and INMA, the INMA Technology Transfer Center and the expertise of the 2 universities in educational activities. These activities will be offered online, with all partners benefiting from online training platforms, at the beneficiaries‘premises or at the partners’ premises. To this end, the existing courses will be inventoried, the need for others will be analysed so that online platforms
