The general objective of the project is to ensure access to online teaching activities in the academic years 2020-2021 and 2021-2022, by ensuring equal opportunities in education, for 526 students from the “Lucian Blaga” University of Sibiu, who meet the criteria to benefit from social scholarships and occasional social scholarships. By achieving the general objective, we contribute to the Specific Objective OS 2.4 “Increasing the use of the Internet” by equipping students with mobile equipment in the field of information technology such as school tablets, as well as other electronic equipment/devices, so that training hours during teaching activities can take place online, in order to avoid students’ direct contact with academics and other students, as well as to prevent the risk of infection with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, which would jeopardise the normal conduct of all the teaching activities necessary for the educational process, a measure aimed at the national strategic interest. Carrying out teaching activities in the school year 2020/2021 requires a series of measures necessary for the smooth conduct of the educational process for students, in the context of the pandemic crisis created by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, in order to avoid a rapid increase in the coronavirus infection, but also to create the conditions for carrying out teaching activities. In this respect, one of the measures adopted by “ORDONANCE OF URGENCE No 144 of 24 August 2020 on certain measures for the allocation of non-reimbursable external funds necessary for the preventive conduct of teaching activities for the 2020/2021 school year in the context of the risk of infection with coronavirus SARS-CoV-2” refers to ensuring students’ access to online learning. According to the European Commission letter Ares(2020)1847818 on the SARS-Cov-2 coronavirus investment initiative, the European Commission proposes to mobilise cohesion policy funds to respond in a flexible manner to the needs arising from the pandemic in the sectors most affected – higher education. The beneficiary will initiate and support a large information campaign on the methodology for selecting the target group (GT). The measures proposed by this project will be addressed to ULBS students who meet the criteria to benefit from social scholarships and occasional social scholarships. In the long term, this project will generate the following positive effects and benefits for the members of the target groups, which derive from the implementation of the project: — continuing on-line studies of people from the target groups of the project; increase the number of internet users by 526 people through this project; — discount
