The LIOP objective 9.1 aims to increase the capacity to manage the COVID-19 health crisis and the project contributes to the achievement of the specific objective of the programme by implementing measures identified and designed based on the concrete needs of the current epidemiological context. In this respect, the Applicant envisages making investments in relevant medical and protective equipment. The general objective of the project is to protect the health of the population in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic and to obtain timely and efficient reporting of the public health system in the SARS-CoV-2 crisis. The project fits the type A action according to the applicant’s guide – specific conditions related to the call and contributes to increasing the capacity of care and treatment of cases of infection with the new coronavirus, by equipping the Bucharest Emergency University Hospital (SUUB) with a series of medical equipment and equipment, medical and medical protection devices, specialised transport equipment, equipment for decontamination and triage support (but not limited to them), necessary for the treatment of patients affected by the new coronavirus and for the management of the emergency situation caused by the COVID-19 crisis. The Bucharest Emergency University Hospital (SUUB) is an institution of public interest, in the public domain of the state, in the administration and subordination of the Ministry of Health (under classification I plan according to Order No 323/2011 of the Minister of Health, amended by Order No 441/2015) providing both continuous hospitalisation and specialised outpatient services, day hospitalisation services or paraclinical services for a number of specialties. Taking into account the type and number of services provided, efforts were made to use the resources as calculated as possible, so that the Hospital copes with the flow of patients and the provision of infrastructure (new spaces to comply with epidemiological conditions) and equipment and accessories necessary for the management of COVID-19 patients were noted from the very beginning as clear needs. Thus, in the current epidemiological cotext, the A4 wing of the Hospital (Stage 3-5 and 7-13) was defined as the wing for suspected COVID-19 patients regardless of the associated pathology, in accordance with the temporary opinion no. 14 bis of 17.04.2020 issued on the basis of Decree no.195/2020 on the establishment of the emergency status on the territory of Romania by the Public Health Directorate of Bucharest.
