Project “Research Center with Integrated Techniques for Atmospheric Aerosol Investigation in Romania” (en), Acronim: Recent-AIR aims to make significant contributions to: 1) increasing the research, development and innovation capacity of Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iași, north-eastern Romania, as a public research institution, by developing and modernising the existing RDI infrastructure, oriented towards monitoring and analysing environmental factors, as well as the prevention and sustainable management of environmental risks, in order to transfer knowledge in priority research areas of interest to economic operators or communities, territorial administrative units, etc., by ensuring the basic principles of the National Plan for Research and Development and Innovation for the period 2015-2020, PNCDIII (Decision No 583 of 22 July 2015 updated by Decision No 8 of 10 January 2018 amending Government Decision No 583/2015), on transparency, accessibility and integrity of information, participation in the competition for membership/inclusion in the research infrastructures of interest in the European Roadmap approved by the European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures (ESFRI), but also through 2) the development of a new research infrastructure at Alexandru Ioan Cuza University in Iasi, aligned with international standards, to meet the requirements of developing excellence in the field of C&I, with the promotion of a new competence centre with potential of interest at European level in Field 3: Energy, Environment and Climate Change, Subarea 3.2: Environment and Climate Change, Activity Sector 3.2.2: Managing the risk induced by climate change on resources, in order to increase the chances of success in integrating the research infrastructure dedicated to the study of aerosols and their behaviour in the atmosphere alongside the European infrastructures of excellence with relevance in the field of ESFRI for the environment, Energy, Environment and Climate Change, through activities focused on investigating the characteristics and behaviour of air aerosols in Romania, from both anthropogenic and natural sources, in the context of their negative effects on: a) climate/climate changes, b) environmental quality, and c) human health status. Recently-AIR, implemented at UAIC in Iasi (see the RECENT-AIR Center’s relationship with UAIC.pdf), through its complexity (see Organisational Structure and Relations between RECENT-AIR.pdf laboratories) contributes to the achievement of the objectives set by the National Strategy of ROMANIA ON CLIMATIAL SCHIMBATIONS 2013-2020, through Action 2: Supporting research on climate change
