Equipping the pre-university educational units in the city of Comănești, Bacău County, with ICT equipment necessary for carrying out the teaching activities in the online environment

Improving the ICT infrastructure in the field of e-education to ensure students’ access to online learning in the context of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic at the level of Comănești city in Bacău County. Detail: The low capacity of parents and state administrative units to provide the necessary electronic equipment/devices to carry out teaching activities and fulfil the obligations of both pupils and teachers in the online educational process are challenges posed by the pandemic context for the smooth conduct of the school year 2020-2021. The imminence of the rapid digitalisation of the educational process revealed a financially reduced ability of Comănești to ensure access for pupils and teachers to electronic equipment and devices, so that raising capital from non-reimbursable funds for equipping educational establishments with IT equipment necessary to ensure the conditions of carrying out teaching activities in the online environment is a priority for territorial administrative units. Thus, the investment project proposes to equip with school tablets and other electronic equipment/devices of the “Liviu Rebreanu” Gymnasium School Comănești, the “Ciprian Porumbescu” Gymnasium School Comănești, the School of Gymnasium “Costachi S. Ciocan” Comănești, the Technical College “Dimitrie Ghika” Comănești and their schools in order to ensure the necessary conditions for carrying out the teaching activity in the online environment in order to avoid a rapid increase in the number of coronavirus infections at the level of the state pre-university educational units and the local community. The accessibility of students and teachers to technological equipment is, on the one hand, an important factor in limiting the spread of the virus and the potential number of infections that should be treated in the public health system, and on the other hand contributes to ensuring the right to education by reducing the risk of school leaving and social exclusion of pupils from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds. The relevance and contribution of the project to the objectives of the programme lies primarily from the fact that within the educational units representative of the educational system of Comăneşti, the way to ensure and ensure students’ access to the online learning process in the yellow or red scenario is through the tools offered by Google, the learning platforms/applications G Suite, Zoom, Classroom and EDUS, with free access, in accordance with Emergency Ordinance no. 144 of 24 August 2020 on certain measures for the allocation of non-reimbursable external funds necessary for the prevention of teaching activities for the school year 2020/2021
