Investments needed to strengthen the response capacity to the crisis caused by the spread of the COVID-19 virus of the Aleşd City Hospital

Investments in health infrastructure to strengthen the response capacity to the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Given that the Aleșd City Hospital serves a relevant segment of the population in Bihor County, and also taking into account the worrying increase in the number of SARS-CoV-2 diseases in Bihor County, investment in health infrastructure is urgently needed to reduce inequalities in the health status of the population. It will also be taken into account that Bihor County is border county, so the medical infrastructure also serves the transit population, increasing the capacity to care and treat SARS-CoV-2 infection cases is important for the proper management of the health crisis. SARS-CoV-2 is a virus with extremely high contagiousness, which has led to an unprecedented health crisis as well as the death of a large number of people globally and in the countries of the European Union, including Romania. Limiting the spread of the virus, as well as its extremely serious effects on the Romanian population, can only be achieved by ensuring the availability of medical devices and devices, so it is necessary to adequately equip the public health facilities in which cases of infection with the SARS-CoV-2 virus are treated. Main problems identified in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic: — There are no vaccines available and there is little evidence of the effectiveness of potential medicines. In addition, it is assumed that there is no pre-existing immunity from the coronavirus and that anyone is susceptible. — COVID-19 cases may occur from asymptomatic to severe pneumonia; severe clinical forms may evolve into death. — While most cases (80 %) are manifested with mild clinical forms and pneumonia, severe forms and deaths are more common among elderly people with pre-existing medical conditions. — The risk of exceeding the capacity of the health system in the EU/EEA in the coming months is considered increased. The implementation of the project can reduce the negative impact on the health system by applying effective infection prevention and control measures and measures to increase the response capacity by: — Providing equitable access to quality prevention and diagnosis services for patients with other pathologies, not infected with SARS-CoV-2, addressed to the Aleşd City Hospital – Protection from severe illness and death, of the most vulnerable population groups, by reducing the transmission and strengthening of the healthcare system – Increased quality of health services Prevention and control of COVID-19 transmission is an immediate priority, in order to: (1) slow down the demand for specialised medical care, such as beds in the ITA section; (2) protect vulnerable populations from results for
