The general objective of the project aims to strengthen and increase the capacity to manage the emergency situation caused by the COVID health crisis – 19 at the level of the Clinical Hospital of Infectious Diseases Constanta, a hospital with exclusive destination for the care of patients infected with SARS-CoV-2 in accordance with Annex II of WHO no. 555/2020 on the approval of the Plan of Measures for the Preparation of Hospitals in the context of Coronavirus COVID-19 outbreak, by equipping with medical and personal protective equipment, necessary to ensure appropriate treatment to all patients infected with COVID-19 and to reduce the risk of contamination of hospital staff and patients. Starting with March of this year, the Clinical Hospital of Infectious Diseases Constanta had to manage suspected cases of COVID-19 and confirmed respectively, being in the list of the 6 hospitals in the country designated as a testing and assistance center for COVID patients since the beginning of the epidemic evolution on the national territory. After the number of Covid hospitals increased, the Clinical Hospital of Infectious Diseases Constanta remained a first-line regional hospital, serving the population throughout the South-East area. Given the evolution of the COVID-19 virus in Romania and in the world in recent months, in order to ensure appropriate treatment for all patients with COVID-19 infection and to reduce the risk of contamination of hospital and patient staff, the proposed project aims at equipping medical equipment (intensitive care electric beds with monitor and fan, EKG, qPCR/real time with magnetic induction, etc.) and personal protection (protection suits, masks, etc.) that will ensure an adequate capacity for care and treatment of cases of infection with SARS-CoV-2/health crisis management and an additional capacity of COVID-19 infection and care virus treatment. Also, strengthening and increasing the capacity to manage the emergency situation caused by the COVID-19 health crisis at the Constanta Infectious Disease Clinical Hospital by adequately equipping medical and personal protection equipment leads to an increase in the treatment capacity of COVID-19 patients – 19, raising the quality of the medical act, decreasing the time needed for diagnosis and treatment, decreasing the number of COVID-19 patients redirected to other hospitals and decreasing the number of people infected with COVID-19 virus, contributing to achieving the result proposed by the program – timely and effective response of the public medical system to the COVID-19 crisis – 19.
