The general objective of the project is to increase the research capacity of the National Institute for Research and Development for Criogenic and Isotopic Technologies – ICSI Ramnicu Vâlcea, through the development of a CLOUD-type infrastructure, the infrastructure that will provide the necessary information and communication resources for the storage and analysis of large data volumes resulting from the Institute’s research activity, as well as for the exchange of scientific data at European and international level. The project will lead to increased scientific competitiveness of ICSI by developing and diversifying R & D infrastructure across all 4 axes/activity directions: Energy, Nuclear, Analytics and Business, considering that it is absolutely essential to use a high-performance and secure IT & C infrastructure. In addition, the new CLOUD Resource Centre will help increase the access of ICSI researchers to global information resources by interconnecting with European and international systems owned by major academic centres and research institutes. As a result, it will be favoured to achieve excellence in R & D and innovation by pooling scientific results, by extending the Institute’s computing capacity, from calculation to storage, by using open data analysis tools, leading to the elimination of fragmentation encountered in scientific activity when we talk about different domains that generate data. Thus, through the Memoranda of Understanding concluded by ICSI, the CLOUD Resource Center developed through the project will provide cloud computing services for the construction, testing, implementation and management of applications and services through a global network of data centers, used by numerous academic and research organisations around the world. In this context, ICSI Râmnicu Vâlcea will be able to use specific CLOUD tools for research and collaboration, which will implicitly lead to increased research capacity and international cooperation.
