Road II/545 connects the settlement units of the county town of Prešov and the district town of Bardejov and within the framework of the concept of territorial development of Slovakia forms the so-called Šariš Development axis Prešov – Bardejov – border of the Republic of Poland. The route in question is also used as a link between the industrial and cultural centres of the Prešov Self-Governing Region. Road II/545 serves to connect adjacent towns and highly developed and densely populated villages in the northern part of the Prešov self-governing region to the I/18 road and the D1 motorway network. The subject of the project is to modernise and increase the safety parameters of road II/545 in sections located in the cadastral territory of the municipalities of Kapušany, Fulianka, Tulčík and Demjata. The construction of the road II/545 in the section from km 0,000-9.619 (total length of the reconstructed road 6,708 km), reconstruction of 6 bridge objects and 11 passes, replacement and addition of guardrails, implementation of safety transport subsystems. The aim of the proposed reconstruction is to increase the safety and fluidity of road traffic, to increase the traffic comfort of road users, to extend the life of the building objects concerned and to improve the road drainage system. The result of the project is mainly the reconstruction and modernisation of 6,708 km of class II road and 6,708 km of road traffic savings on Class II and Class III roads, expressed at EUR 119762 for the reference year 2024.
